Heidi Lueders, 31, of New Canaan, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 after New Canaan police responded to a home on Marshall Ridge Road for a report of a domestic dispute between two occupants of the home, said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro.
Following an investigation, Lueders was charged with threatening, assault, and breach of peace.
Lueders, the past president of Bully Breed Rescue, Inc., was arrested and charged with five counts of animal cruelty following the discovery of five dead dogs in her home on Nov. 14, 2018, according to the Fairfield Police.
The dogs were found after Fairfield Police responded to her Prince Street home and were nearly overcome by a strong odor coming from inside. Police entered the home and found the decomposed bodies of five dog in locked cages. Police said the floor of the home was covered in trash and animal feces.
The animal cruelty case was continued until Feb. 13.
Lueders is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on the domestic violence charges on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
